Hello!
My name is Aurea Bianca Orencia. I recently graduated from New Haven Academy and I am going to attend Brigham Young University this fall to major in Chemical Engineering. This summer I am going to join Dr. Drew Gentner and his crew as an intern where we will be measuring air quality all over New Haven. It will be a Environmental/Chemical Engineering internship, so I am really excited to see what this field has in store for me.
This summer, during my internship, I hope to learn:
What instruments are used to measure air quality?
What is the biochemistry/engineering technology behind our daily lives?
How can we create technology that can make our lives better? What are the procedures and factors that are considered in making them?
What can we do as citizens of New Haven to maintain a healthy air quality?
How do we use data we acquire to improve people's lives? Where does the data we acquire go to? Do political figures in Connecticut use them to better regulate and help people's lives?
I am very excited to work with Dr. Gentner and people in his lab, and also my fellow EVO student Paula to learn more about air quality in New Haven. I can't wait to witness data collection, data interpretation, and performing experiments that I know contributes to our daily lives.
Catch ya later,
Aurea :)
