For this internship, I can expect that I will come across many hurdles and obstacles for being able to create a research poster at the end of the summer. Therefore, setting goals at the start will help guide me into finding a specific interest in the lab!
1. Find a passion through my internship.
I know for sure that I want to work in the STEM field but I am not entirely sure of a career path. I want this internship to be an opportunity for me to have more insight into other science careers.
2. Acquire research skills.
I have never worked in a lab for research before so I want this to give me experience for any future careers that I might find interest in. The research being done in the entomology lab will help expand my knowledge and I can even apply these skills in a classroom or other school assignments. Also, my supervisors and mentors seem very approachable in helping me complete projects and conduct the research.
3. Help my community.
I want my research to be meaningful outside of the lab as well. I believe that knowledge about entomology and research in general can go beyond the Entomology lab and I can contribute new ideas for the Peabody Museum, and New Haven.
Can't wait!
